Last night, around midnight on Channel One TVNZ, we had a documentary entitled ‘Mercury Falling’,  (not ‘Mercury Rising’),  which looked at several cases of autism in New Zealand. It discussed the idea that mercury and other environmental poisons might be to blame for autism.  Mercury is an added component to some vaccinations.

It is a shame the documentary was shown so late:  Midnight on Sunday night wouldn’t have impacted very well on the public, as most people are in bed at that hour.  Interesting.  Autism New Zealand and a Vaccination authority did the documentary.  It was very well done, I thought.

The idea that vaccinations are one major cause of autism was allowed, but of course we had a couple of doctors who defended vaccinations, saying that  “there isn’t any proof that vaccinations have caused autism”.

This comment in the defence of vaccination is of interest to me, because it is meaningless:  Doctors are NOT REQUIRED TO KEEP A RECORD OF PATIENTS WHO SUFFER ADVERSE REACTIONS TO VACCINATION – which means, first of all, that the real casualties of vaccination conveniently slip by the notice of the authorities and the drug companies, and, secondly, that the medical profession have no grounds at all in the defence of vaccination.  There ‘is no proof that vaccinations have caused autism’, because there has been no evidence collected by these doctors who support vaccination.

This documentary looked at alternative options of treatment.  Thanks to the family who gave their time and allowed television into their personal lives to make this important documentary so that we, the public, might benefit.

There is no doubt in my mind that the vaccinations were the trigger for the autistic condition which appeared in two boys in the documentary,  who belonged to the same family.  These children, who are a year or two apart in age, were ‘normal’ at birth. But both children became ‘victims’ of autism at the age of three months, after the standard vaccinations had been given.  The documentary indicated that most parents of autistic children in America have said that their children began to develop autistic symptoms after  vaccinations were administered.  I will relate a similar story about my own children after talking about this documentary and the family involved.

Louise, the Mum of the boys, said that both children had had  a dramatic change in behaviour – for the worse – after they were given vaccinations at the age of three months. They became extremely unsettled and cried for no reason for long periods, whereas they had been settled beforehand. They showed no signs of developing speech at the normal age, and now that they are a little older,  they still do not speak.

In America, much research has been done into the incidence of autism in children.  Cases of autism rose dramatically when vaccination programmes were stepped up, which was about the same time as the drug Thimerosal was added to vaccinations.  This was in the 1990’s:  Autism grew to epidemic proportions from this time onwards.

Louise heard about another wee autistic boy in New Zealand who had been successfully treated by New Zealand doctor Dr Godfrey. Dr Godfrey is a specialist in environmental health and toxicology. The wee boy, who had had a remarkable recovery from autism due to Dr Godfrey’s methods of healing, was pictured on the programme. He looked healthy and happy, and intelligent, could express himself well,  and showed interest in the cameras, the TV men and all that was going on. The contrast to Louise’s boys was quite apparent.  They did not make eye contact and were very sad by comparison.  Louise, of course, was excited by the prospect that her children might  recover under the same treatment which had been given by Dr Godfrey to this wee boy.

Thanks to Dr Godrey’s efforts:  There WAS a perceptible improvement after beginning the treatment.  However, after months on the chelation therapy, to rid the children’s bodies of mercury and other heavy metals, there was not as much improvement in Louise’s children as what she had hoped.  It is possible that the treatment may have been successful if it had been followed for a longer period.  It is also possible that Louise’s children have been more damaged by environmental causes  than the child who had recovered.

It was pointed out that chelation therapy, and other alternative measures to treat autism and environmental diseases, is a costly treatment in New Zealand:  it is not supported by our medical systems here to the same extent as it is in the USA.  Louise said “Doctor Godfrey is on the right track. But chelation therapy in New Zealand is not supported by the hospitals’ . Louise and her husband could not continue with the costly treatment.

Next, Dr Levinson, an American doctor who is a specialist in the same field as Dr Godfrey, offered to give the treatment as a gift.  This was a wonderfully generous gesture, however, there were problems with getting important samples of blood and urine sent to America to be analyzed. This was necessary, to measure and identify poisons in the children’s blood and to adapt the treatment accordingly as poisons were eliminated.

It was established early on in the treatment that there were other heavy metals besides mercury, which would still be posing a problem with health.  But eventually Louise became worn out and depressed and gave up on the treatment  directed from America under Dr Levinson.

Louise, if you get to read this – I think you have done remarkably well. You have displayed enormous courage.  To have not one, but two children with autism is not easy.  You have tried so hard, and acted out of love for your dear children.

I think it is good to remember that these poisons can take several years to be eliminated from the body.  I know chelation therapy is meant to act more quickly than other kinds of elimination diets and processes, and that this has not met with your expectations of the treatment – but perhaps you shouldn’t give up with some sort of alternative treatment.  There are some very good and clever homeopaths around.  Homeopathy is one type of treatment which is fairly  affordable, and less espensive  than  chelation treatment. Appropriate homeopathic remedies can negate poisons in the blood. There are other detoxification measures which can be taken besides homeopathy.

It might be worthwhile going to see an Ayurvedic practitioner, or a Chinese herbalist. Spiritual Healing would be good, no matter what treatment you give.  Even if you do nothing, Spiritual Healing might help to trigger off a favourable response of some sort – maybe to point you in the right direction for some sort of help.  It is just great that your Mum has come to live with you.  She is a real angel.

And you look beautiful with that new hair-cut.

It is good to remember, too, that everything happens for a reason.  Sometimes, it doesn’t matter what you do with a sick person, no treatment of any kind will have any effect.  This does not mean that we should give up, though.  Try to keep an open mind, keep faith  and let the right thing come to you. This is very hard,  I know, when you are caught up in it all.  Words come cheap. But all that effort which you have put in so far will not be wasted in the long run. Nothing good ever is.

I wrote an article just in the last week entitled ‘Introduction To Homeopathy’. In this article, I explained that I had turned to homeopathy and other natural modalities of healing after my first born child, who was a ‘good’ baby, had become puffed out with a reddened complexion, and with persistent crying, after he was given his first jab at three months old.  After this first jab, he became a ‘difficult’ baby. It took weeks, if not months, for him to settle  down again.

This was in 1974, and I have no idea at all what chemicals were in these vaccinations.  I have heard that some vaccinations were contaminated, but even if they are not ‘contaiminated, I think they’re pretty risky things to be giving babies. You just can’t tell how a child will react, and the outcome of the vaccine can hardly be determined until the child has grown up.

Anyway, by the time he had settled down again, he was six months old and was meant to have yet another injection.

I remember trying to dissuade the plunket nurse at the door, telling her that the vaccination had caused much distress to my baby.  She told me that he might die of any one of several diseases if I didn’t allow her to give the injections every three months.  So I reluctantly let her in to give my baby the next shot. Same thing happened, only worse, after the second shot. He cried a lot, would not sleep, and seemed to be in  constant pain with what we call ‘colic’. He was slightly swollen with what looked like water retention. These symptoms lasted for weeks.

I decided at that point there would be no more vaccinations or innoculations AT ALL.  So when the plunket nurse next visited when my baby was 9 months old, I sent her away. I refused all injections.  No more of my children had vaccinations of any kind after that. I read all I could about homeopathy so that I could avoid the doctor as much as possible, for all those common childhood illnesses.

So I had the best of intentions to avoid all innoculations and vacinations. Alas, my next child was born sick as a direct result from our house  being sprayed for several hours by helicopter with 245T while she was still in the womb. My wee son and I were in the house at the time, and we both became very ill with eczema or psoriasis,  developed allergies to many foods, and had  breathing problems similar to asthma which I had never experienced before.  About three months after the spraying incident, my new baby was born with  similar health problems, only worse:  She had terrible breathing difficulties.  She could not digest breast-milk. Her vitality was extremely low, yet she had been born a healthy size.

Contaminated breast milk did not help: While I was still pregnant, we had continued to drink the stream water, which was our only water source, after the spraying.  My milk would have been contaminated heavily with 245T from the run off  into the stream, as well as the direct contact with the spray. We were also drinking cow’s milk from a farm up the road where there was much spraying of chemicals, including the use of 245T, known as ‘agent orange’ in Viet Nam.

So we began our trips to the local hospital for treatment.  It was mentioned by the doctor there that she may have had cystic fibrosis,  but this was never confirmed. We did tests which were inconclusive.  She may have had a propensity for cystic fibrosis, but I am sure that the 245T was ultimately responsible for bringing the condition out, because my older child who was with me the day of the spraying, and myself, were both very sick  with similar complaints for at least a  couple of years after this incident.

Anyway, after all that, she died at three months from ” hospital misadventure”, because a nurse aid gave her about half a cupful of ventolin from a test-tube.  They had been giving her just half a teaspoonful in the evenings, but never any more than this. This nurse marched into my room with the test-tube one evening, and simply poured it down my baby’s throat in front of me. My baby swelled out within about half an hour, and her skin went blotchy.  In the morning, just before we were raced away by ambulance to another hospital, the ‘good’ sister who came on duty said my baby had had heart failure within half an hour of being given the ventolin the night before, and had suffered brain damage as a result. A month later, after the transferral to the bigger hospital, we agreed to our daughter having life support taken from her. She died at just three months old  after a short life of immense struggle.

I had been to the doctor after the 245T spraying, while I was pregnant, to explain that both my one-year-old and I were both ill with breathing difficulty and nausea because of the spraying.  The doctor  was insistent that 245T would not have affected my health or the health of my one-year-old. He said no, that would not have made us sick.  He said  ” There is no evidence to say that 245T is  harmful to the health’…… A load of cods-wallop………utter nonsense, he said.

He took my pulse and blood pressure, told me I was a hypochondriac, because  there was nothing at all physically wrong with me, and there was nothing wrong with 245T either. This was farming country.

How often do you hear doctors saying stuff like this on the television? Every week, you hear some doctor banging  on about proof:

There is no evidence to suggest’……..begins the argument. How many people need to die before the authorities take any notice? How many people need to suffer?  How many children have to suffer before drug companies and doctors stop testing out their medicines on them?

All issues are the same – when someone is making money out of a product, it is usually very difficult to get that product highlighted as to its negative effects on health.

Despite the sadness in the story, I accept that my dear daughter was destined to spend just a short time on this earth, and that there was a definite reason for her coming here.   It did not seem to matter where i went, or how I tackled the problem of her illness:  There were definite elements of her suffering that were right outside my sphere of control.  Maybe these experiences were designed to foster compassion in me, and get me interested in the subject of natural health in a big way – Who knows?  I only know that  she is not far away from me, and that  the outcome of her short life has certainly been positive in the long run.

There is meaning in everything, and value in every experience. I pray that Louise’s boys might be helped.

Vitamins for Celiacs

Celiac Disease causes  problems in the digestion which leads to malabsorption of essential vitamins and minerals. Celiacs usually suffer from a condition of inflammation in the bowel, which causes nutritional deficiencies, and this condition leads to celiacs being  malnourished:   Weight loss, anaemia, and depression are just some of the symptoms which may accompany the celiac disease.

Cancer and Osteoporoosies and Osteomalacia are conditions which celiac sufferers are inclined to get, because their bodies do not assimilate calcium and other vitamins and minerals  as well as other healthy people do.  It was found in recent research conducted with  celiac patients,  that assimilation of  nutrients increased when gluten was removed from the diet completely.  Removing gluten increased the absorption of  essential nutrients in food and in supplements,  and lowered the  risk of cancer, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and other disease.  The celiac sufferers had the same incidence of cancer as the rest of the population once gluten was removed. First and Foremost, to ensure that your vitmamin supplements are having the maximum effect,  it is important to eliminate the problematic foods from the diet.   These are wheat, rye and barley, which contain the gluten which is undigestible to celiac sufferers.   In research done recently, 95% of celiac sufferers improved  and became  symptom free, over a period of several months,   once they had removed the problematic gluten from their diets.  That means that all wheat, and products which include wheat, and  barley and rye ,  must be avoided completely. Being totally gluten free is essential in treating the condition of celiac disease.

You should check out your candida status with your doctor or health professional.  Candida needs a special diet devoid of wheat, barley, rye, dairy products, all sugars including fruit, fermented food, fruit juces, alcohol, vinegars,  and yeast products, until you have recovered.  If you have not been diagnosed with celiac disease, it might be that you have candida overgrowth.

So it is important to replace the nutrients which are deficient.

Calcium: It is essential to eat plenty of calcium-rich foods.  Calcium helps to protect the body against cancer, osteoporosis, osteomalacia,  and other disease, as well as keeping the teeth, bones and nails strong.  Diseases which are related to calcium deficiency, cancer, osteoporosis, and osteomalacia, are conditions which celiac sufferers are inclined to get, so it is very important to ensure that the diet has adequate calcium.

Most people  need about 1200mg of calcium a day, but people with the celiac condition need at least twice this amount.  Women need slightly more than this amount to account for the loss in menstruation, and growing children and teenagers also need slightly  more.   One handful of sesame seeds contains about 1200mg of calcium, and a teaspoon of dolomite powder contains about twice this.

Natural Sources of Calcium: Dolomite powder, Sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, sardines, bone broth, broccoli and the other brassicas which include cabbage and kale, coconut and coconut milk.   If your condition tolerates the use of dairy products and soy milk products, then of course these are excellent calcium sources too.  Look up merrilyn’s recipe for natural home-made calcium supplement under the post ‘Best Calcium Supplements’.

Vitamin B6 is especially recommended by health practitioners and doctors for the treatment of depression of celiac sufferers.   ‘The Natural Pharmacy’,  a Healthnotes Publication, Three Rivers Press, New York, 2006,  reports favourable results from people using vitamin B6 for depression.

Candida Can Cause Memory Loss:  Too often people say that the cause of memory loss is a genetic thing, especially when it is related to Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia.  But while we accept that some people have a propensity for afflictions of the brain, and memory loss, as with cancer and other degenerative diseases, much can be done, in my experience, to avoid or avert these conditions in most people, even when there is a genetic weakness.

Candida Infection

A weakened immune system can result in candida, which can cause memory loss.

It is easy to cure candida: The main thing is to starve it of the foods it thrives on, and avoid all those environmental contaminants which encourage it. Periods of detoxification, as in fasting on raw foods, castor oil occasionally, an alkaline diet, avoidance of all toxic herbicides, pesticides and other substances, and a healthy environment is the way to recover your health and naturally improve your memory.

Heavy metal poisoning, asbestos, addiction to alcohol and other drugs, vaccinations and some medications, as well as agricultural chemicals such as RoundUp’s glyphosate, all have the potential to weaken the immune system and incline people to candida infection.

Any of these things, given enough exposure, tend to upset the functioning of the bowel flora, and kill off the very organisms which are there to help digest our food and protect us from sickness.

One incident which caused severe memory loss, and a near physical breakdown, was the poisoning which occurred after I cleared a property of asbestos and toxic ash after a fire. I began to collapse with heavy metals, formaldehyde, and asbestos dust poisoning my system. Lead is one heavy metal which is known to severely affect nervous system, brain function and memory, and combined with all the other poisons in this toxic ash, it  very nearly caused my death. I guessed that if I wasn’t to die of heavy metal poisoning, then I might die of candida.

Candida took over my digestive system to the extent that eating a grain of sugar, or a drop of fruit juice caused an immediate visible reaction in the mouth, which became white with thrush. As long as I did not eat anything which fed the organism, then I was OK. But there was very little food which was safe during this time. Raw lettuce, for instance, was no good, as there are multiple little organisms on lettuce which cause the lettuce to decompose fairly quickly. As my immune system was so incredibly weakened, I had no resistance to the yeasts on lettuce, or the sugars in sweet vegetables such as carrots, or apples, which caused immediate candida overgrowth.

It took a very long while to rid myself of the poisons which were making me ill, and to build up resistance again, but I managed a recovery with castor oil, and a diet which allowed only raw celery and tuna fish in oil, and calcium ascorbate vitamin C. I followed this regime religiously for six months, after which time I was able to eat cooked vegetables again.  After this initial healing period, I still had to follow a strict modified diet using both cooked and raw vegetables, tuna fish in oil, and continue to use castor oil for cleansing at least once a week.

Gradually, memory and physical health was restored.

 

Seven years after this, the oppressive effect of Saturn was upon me again. I suffered a period of chronic depression, probably related to the asbestos, lead, mercury poisoning, as well as my children leaving home. This time I became addicted to alcohol.  Candida loves alcohol. After three years of drinking and isolation, I had virtually no memory,  had forgotten how to speak in coherent sentences, could not recognize familiar faces or voices,  and had forgotten how to perform many simple tasks.

It was imperative that I stop drinking. I joined the local Alcoholic Anonymous group, and began to pay attention to diet, intellectual, and social factors. It took one year for the nervous tremors to stop, and several more years for memory, speech and eyesight to recover normal function.

 

It is probable that vaccinations in childhood play a part in people’s immunity being low and too readily succumbing to candida and other infections throughout life. I believe that childhood vaccinations, as well as flu vaccinations,  could also be one cause of mental deterioration and memory loss in less than old people because of their influence on the digestive and immune systems.

My generation was the recipient of numerous nationwide school vaccinations and innocculations in the 1950’s and 1960’s.  It is no wonder, to me, that so many of my peers have died so young of cancer, and heart and breathing problems, addictions, and that most of us still living have chronic short-term memory loss.

 

Avoid Exposure To Radiation And Electromagnetic Energies:  As stated in the article entitled ‘Improve Your Eyesight Naturally, electromagnetic radiation from cell phone towers, ‘smart’ electricity meters, and electricity transformers, can harm brain function very dramatically.

These vibrations and radiations affect the central nervous system, which runs on its own series of electrical impulses. The nervous system’s energy circuit is very sensitive to the stronger rays from things like cell phone towers and electricity meter boxes, and the result of prolonged exposure is that the organs suffer. The brain, eyes, ears and heart, which are all connected to the nervous system,  are especially vulnerable to these toxic energies.

 

These radiations and electromagnetic fields can also cause candida, as they have the ability to kill off the ‘good’ bacteria in the bowel, to the advantage of the ‘bad’ bacteria and other parasites.

Anti Candida Diet Improves General Health And Memory

Important: If you feel at all unwell whilst you try this anti-candida diet, then quit the diet and go back to see your health adviser. However, it can be rather trying at the beginning of the diet, as the candida yeast will demand those sugars and foods which feed it, especially when you are starving it of these items. If you can resist the temptation to eat those foods which candida loves, then after a week or so on the diet, your candida infection should be more or less under control.

The best way to combat candida and rebuild your immune system is to starve it of all sugars for a while. This means adopting a very radical approach which involves more than being gluten-free. You need to cut out all wheat flour products – no bread,cake or pastries, as these are all converted to sugar too quickly: wheat flour, and many other flours, can cause the candida to thrive whilst your immune system is poorly functioning.  Cut out sweets, including all sweet drinks, juices, fruit and honey for a time. Dairy products are also best avoided; the lactose in milk, including soy milk, also feeds candida. All leafy greens are just great, as are most vegetables, but cut down on those potatoes and kumara, or sweet potato, and carrots for a while, as these carbohydrates are converted to sugar very quickly in the digestive system, and this gives the candida plenty to thrive on.

Brown rice is generally good; however, if your condition is chronic, then you will need to exclude all grains until you improve. Taking olive oil, rice bran oil or some other good quality cooking oil with your brown rice, and poured over your salads and cooked greens, helps slow down the process of sugar conversion in the body: it is nourishing, and inhibits the candida, because candida doesn’t like oils.  Taking garlic with your brown rice and oil also helps inhibit candida overgrowth. Use garlic and oil at every meal until you are better. Even after you are better, good oils,garlic, brown rice, salads, and cooked greens should form the bulk of the diet to avoid getting a candida imbalance which causes memory loss.

Protein and Vegetable Oils: A protein-rich diet, and the use of good quality oils such as virgin olive oil, is very effective in combating candida infection. Candida does not thrive in protein-rich diets, and vegetable oils. You must have adequate protein in the diet – candida sufferers are often on vegetarian or low-protein diets where grains are used to substitute real protein. Try to eat protein at every meal. Oily types of fish are just the very best – salmon, mullet, sardines, tuna, but free range eggs, almonds, free range chicken and beef, are all good sources. Nuts are sometimes best left until you begin to recover, but you can experiment with these after you have given yourself a week or so without, to see what their effect is. Once you have followed this anti-candida diet for a few days, you can recognize what foods are best to avoid when you try them again, as you usually get symptoms of candida fairly soon after eating them.

Avoid taking protein foods such as soy bean tofu, soy bean miso, and cheese, as these are all fermented foods which encourage candida.

Eat salad foods at every meal. Celery is very effective in helping to combat candida, as it has plenty of roughage to cleanse the bowel. It is a very alkaline food which makes for a healthy body and immune system. It also has an antiseptic effect which inhibits candida and other bacteria. Celery is a great cleanser and helps to build healthy blood, whilst being excellent for the brain. Sprouts are a great food, but you have to be careful with these as yeast begins to grow on the sprouts while they are germinating: they must be washed well – I think these are best left out until you have recovered somewhat. Lettuce must also be washed well. Avoid tomatoes for a while – they are just too sweet. Avocado is best avoided for the first few few weeks until you have strengthened your immune system, as they begin to ferment very quickly and therefore feed the candida if they are overripe.

The other thing which you must starve the candida of is any food or drink which contains YEAST. Candida is a yeast, and it gets a huge boost when you feed it things like alcohol, or vinegar, or sauces, or even vegetarian products like soy bean miso, tofu,or  soy sauce: all these are fermented. Just a taste of another yeast really sets off the candida growing again. Mushrooms need to be avoided, as the yeast on mushrooms encourages candida overgrowth in your intestines.

If you suspect that candida albicans might be the cause of your memory loss, then the above suggestions should be helpful. Remember to eat enough while you are on this diet.  There is absolutely no need to go hungry. Have a salad ready, maybe with boiled eggs or fish added to it, and some brown rice, already cooked, which you have put in the fridge. You can snack on these super healthy foods, throw a few almonds in with cooked broccoli or spinach, throw on a bit of olive oil, a taste of garlic, and you are ready to go.

Avoiding all yeast foods and sugars will help your memory loss if candida, or sluggish bowels, is the problem. The bulk of salad foods, cooked greens and brown rice which you eat with your protein will provide good roughage to get your bowels clear of effete matter, get them functioning normally again and provide the very best nutrients to feed your body and your brain.

Calcium Ascorbate, or Ester C are the non-acidic Vitamin C types you should look for in treating candida. These are the most effective of all  available supplements which counteract candida albicans, and thus they are helpful in  restoring your memory. They also help keep an alkaline state in the body which is another  important factor in treating candida. Do not use the ordinary, sour tasting Vitamin C, as this does not help candida, but actually feeds it. Calcium ascorbate in doses of 1000mg can be taken once, or twice, or even three times a day to combat candida and help your memory grow strong. Cut the dose back after a few days, once the bowels have been cleared.

Acidophilus: This is the name of one of the beneficial bacteria in the intestines. Acidophilus helps keep the candida in check, so it is very useful in tackling the cause of your memory loss. Having a healthy amount of acidophilus in your bowel also helps you to process your food more efficiently, thus more nutrients are provided to the brain, helping to counteract memory loss. It is important to find a product which is suitable for candida sufferers, though. Make sure there are no added sugars or lactose added to the acidophilus which you buy. Epsom Salts For Magnesium:  This is very helpful in clearing out the bowel of toxins.  The extra magnesium can also boost your brain function.  Take a dose several times a week, or as needed.

Bowel Cleanse or Colonic Cleanse: It is a good idea to go to a colonic clinic to get this professionally done at first. After that, you can learn how to use an enema so that you can clean out your system regularly. This is especially important in the beginning of treatment, when toxins will be released from the liver because of the healthy change of diet you have implemented. Having a radio close to your head at night will interfere with your brain patterns and affect your memory: I read once that Paul Simon won’t sleep with a radio or a TV anywhere near his bedroom, even if it they are not going. He recognizes the negative effect radio and TV waves have on the brain and memory function.

Alcohol and marijuana addiction: the effect of both these drugs is well known to be deleterious to the physical health, and to the mental health. Marijuana has a potent weakening effect on memory.

 

Allergy to denture plastic or acrylic:   Many people are sensitive to  plastic materials: these materials, which are prolific in our environment, are one major cause of memory loss in my experience. Unfortunately, many people wear plastic in their mouths, in the fabric of their denture. This plastic starts to break down after a couple of years or so, and chemicals from the plastic denture are absorbed into the body. Lack of certain essential elements in the diet such as iron, B vitamins, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, Vitamin A,Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, iodine, silica, manganese, selenium to name a few of the important ones.  These are all essential to keeping a well functioning memory and a healthy brain.
