I really hope you have enjoyed my new book, published on Amazon 21st March, 2018. Please leave feedback on my books in the comments secion below.

A Precis of the book, duplicated from the back cover:
New Zealander Merrilyn Hope’s third book, entitled  ‘A Life of Natural Health’, is a testament to her belief in, and devotion to, natural healing practices over a period of 40 years or more. The reader who wishes to enhance his/her own healing abilities and improve personal health should find it a valuable resource.
The author believes that most illness can be reversed through beneficial diet, cleansing procedures, the  avoidance of harmful chemicals, and rest and meditation.  All these aspects of health are discussed, with examples where pertinent, in this book.
‘Prevention is better than cure,’ the axiom goes: In preventing or curing an illness, it is essential, first, to eliminate harmful chemicals from your body and your environment.  Many cleansing techniques are given in Ms Hope’s book for this purpose, some of which have proved to be successful in curing cancers and other degenerative disease, by such  eminent naturopaths and doctors as Walter Last, Dr Max Gerson, Dr Clark, and Dr Eva Hill.
Dr Gerson’s anti-cancer method, which famously uses castor oil, enemas, and much raw food, and which the author followed to eliminate a breast lump, is outlined. New Zealand doctor, Dr Eva Hill, cured many cancers in her lifetime: Her more simple, dietary and cleansing procedure for preventing, reducing or curing disease, is detailed within these pages, and so, too, is the three herb formula of Dr Hulda Regehr Clark, who describes her method as a ‘cure for all cancers’.The chapter entitled, ‘List of Complementary Homeopathic Remedies and Sequences’ will be a useful reference, both for students of homeopathy, and for those using homeopathy in the home. Learn what remedies work well with each other, and what remedy will cancel out another remedy. See how the childhood illnesses, mumps, measles, chicken pox, and flu, can all be helped with homeopathy.  Read about how the harmful effects of agricultural chemicals, or troublesome vaccinations, can also be alleviated with correctly selected homeopathic remedies.

Whilst the book is based largely on the author’s experience, and the writings of revered, naturopathic, or homeopathic practitioners, the information given within the book should not be substituted in any way for qualified medical advice.  Do consult your doctor or medical advisor if you are sick.

Breast Swelling Linked To Glyphosate Helped By Mustard Poultice

Natural Remedy

Caution:  This remedy, which uses food-grade ‘Hot English’ mustard, may not work for some people and in fact may cause blistering.  Ask your doctor or health practitioner before trying it.

I have found this remedy to be hugely effective in reducing pain and swelling in the breast, which I think has recurred because of glyphosate overload in my system.  Many years ago, after being sprayed with 2,4,5,T,  I had a lump in the same spot as that which has been bothering me again recently.  I got rid of the problem 35 or so years ago by following the Gerson therapy which uses castor oil, enemas and copious quantities of raw foods and juices.

This time, to reduce swelling and pain, I took between 6000-10,000mg of Vitamin C over a few days as well as Homeopathic Phytolacca, which is a marvellous remedy made from the common ‘Pokeroot’.  I will continue to take Phytolacca for the next three months.

But the thing I found brought immediate relief from the pain was a poultice made from ‘Pams’ ‘Hot English Mustard’ paste.  This has a combination of mustard flour, turmeric, cardamon, white pepper, sugar, vinegar, salt, worcester sauce, water and a stabilizer, 415.

I spread around a tablespoon of the paste over a small piece of pure cotton cloth.  I used a liberal amount of paste.  Then I placed the cotton with the mustard paste on it directly over the sore spot on the breast.  This was held in place by putting a bra over the top.

The poultice was left on for around three hours the first day.  This produced a redness on the outside of the breast.  But the relief from pain was incredible. I washed off any residue of mustard on the skin with cold water and applied Hypercal lotion to the skin.  This has a cooling effect.

Next day, I again used the poultice, rinsing off the old mustard and applying plenty of fresh mustard paste to the damp cotton cloth.  This time, I left it on for a longer perioed – around five hours.  It had dried a little by the time I took it off, so it peeled off a little like a plaster, seemingly taking a lot of the pain and swelling away with it.  There was not so much redness on the skin the second time.  Again, I bathed the skin with cool water.

This treatment was followed for one more day, then I gave it a rest for a day or two.  However, I will resume the poultices for a few consecutive days each week, and continue with the poultice treatment, the Vitamin C in maintenance doses, and the homeopathic Phytolacca for as long as it takes to completely cure the problem.  I expect that this will take around three months or so.

As well as the above treatments, I have eliminated even organic dairy products from my diet, with the exception of butter, cut out all yeast foods such as bread, and am limiting grains.  More sprouted grains, raw and cooked apples, sardines, carrots and greens for me.

I am also aiming at buying 90% organic foods from now on.  I am sure this breast lump has recurred because of glyphosate (and other chemicals too) which seems to be increasing in all unorganic fruits, vegetables, and grains too.

The ‘RoundUp Ready’, genetically engineered Monsanto crops are causing major havoc with our health, in my experience.  The trouble is that these GE plants, of which we now have wheat, corn, and God knows what else, are designed to withstand any amount of spraying with toxic glyphosate combinations such as Monsanto’s ‘RoundUp’ – which, incidentally, is now being marketed under a new name in New Zealand.

That these GE crops are sprayed regularly with glyphosate sprays means that our food contains ever-increasing amounts of glyphosate, along with other chemicals.  Glyphosate is poisoning the soil itself, so foods grown in contaminated soil will absorb quantities of glyphosate, even without more applications of glyphosate sprays.  We are now being poisoned to a degree which cannot be fathomed.

Root vegetables, such as potatoes, are very problematic for the health, because they absorb glyphosate and other sprays put on the soil from above.  So even if you have a heritage potato, it will be poisoned if glyphosate, etc, is sprayed anywhere near it.  I bought 10kg of potatoes recently.  I cannot eat these, as they have high amounts of chemicals in them.  They made me feel ill after eating several meals which incorporated them.  Perhaps one meal of them might have been OK, but to eat up 10kg of contaminated potatoes over the next few months would have spelt disaster for my health.  So I shared them out with my neighbours who do not believe my assertion that we should be eating only organic potatoes.

I am sure that glyphosate, especially, is to blame for my intolerance to the sun these days.  I have noticed that when I get sunstroke, which is several times each summer, I have  either walked down country lanes or even city streets which have been heavily sprayed with glyphosate weedkiller,  or gardened in soil which has, at some time, had weedkiller poured around it,  or eaten unorganic foods which I have felt had unacceptable amounts of toxins in them.

Lemon Tonic Recipe And Homeopathy For After Shingles

Natural Remedy

The following tonic recipe was sent into Ewing Stevens radio programme and appears in his booklet ‘Ewing’s Phone People’, published in 1993.

I have not tried it myself in the healing of shingles, but it looks like a good, general tonic recipe, similar to one which Dr John Hilton gave to me about 30 years ago for the purpose of cleansing the digestive system and blood.

In an 8oz glass put two tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice, 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and one tenth of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.  Top up with warm water and stir to dissolve the maple syrup.  Drink while still warm.

Rangi, who sent in this recipe, recommends taking this dose six times a day for ten days, then leaving for three days, and then repeating the whole procedure for another ten days after the break.

Vitamin E: Readers Digest ‘1801 Home Remedies’ says that Vitamin E can help.  A suggested dose is between 1200-1600 IU per day until the shingles clear up.

Vitamin C is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and should be considered for helping cure shingles.

Zinc can also help.

Cat’s claw herb is suggested in some herbals for treating viral conditions such as shingles.  Studies on cat’s claw herb show it can inhibit viruses. Take the recommended dose.

Drink plenty of lemon balm tea:  Readers Digest says lemon balm is effective in treating herpes viruses.  They suggest making a tea of two teaspoons of dried lemon balm to a cup of boiling water.  Allow to cool, then bathe the shingles blisters with the cooled herb tea.  Peppermint or spearmint herb can be used as an alternative to bathe the skin.

Drinking  several cups per day of lemon balm tea would also be good.  Lemon balm comes from the mint family, and is capable of inhibiting the different strains of herpes viruses.

Lysine, an amino acid, can help fight viruses.  Recommended dose is 1000mg taken three times a day while the outbreak is in the acute stage.

Note:  Reader’s Digest assures us that shingles are NOT catching, but that a person may develop chicken pox from coming into contact with a person suffering shingles:  This might happen if a person has not had chicken pox previously, and occasionally people do get reinfected, sometimes years after having had the virus as a child.

Shingles: Homeopathic remedies to consider might be:

Polio Virus Ten Year Cycle And Vitamin C Versus Vaccination

Polio Virus’ Ten Year Cycle Spreads To Cairo From Pakistan, 2013.

Vaccinations Do Not Necessarily Work:

Statistics can be manipulated.  In convincing the public on the efficacy of a vaccination programme, all that researchers who promote vaccinations need to do is to make sure the vaccine was introduced during the peak of a disease’s cycle, then, later,  measure the rates for that disease during the natural low period of its cycle.  Statistics will then tell you that the vaccination or immunization programme is working.

Better nutrition and living conditions are the reason for most infectious diseases more or less disappearing in civilized countries.  Tapped clean water, allowing for better hygiene, sewage systems, and the availability of good food are the best ways to combat the diseases of the poor.  These things are far more important than giving the poor vaccinations or immunizations.

Polio, as with most diseases, is best kept at bay during its natural peaks with better hygiene, clean drinking water, and better nutrition.

Vitamin A and C therapy, along with good diet, would be much more beneficial as Polio prevention than using vaccinations.

Much research has been done on the subject of Vitamin C for Polio and other infectious diseases.  Thomas E. Levy, M.D.,J.D., writes in his book ‘Curing The Incurable With Vitamin C’, 2002, that Polio is  both curable and preventable with Vitamin C therapy.  He refers to the work of Klenner, who summarized his work using Vitamin C for Polio in 1949.

Here is a quote from Klenner, via Galloway and Seifert’s written account in ‘The Journal Of The American Medical Association’, from page 54 of Levy’s book ‘Curing The Incurable With Vitamin C’:

‘It might be interesting to learn how poliomyelitis was treated in Reidsville, N.C., during the 1948 epidemic.  In the past seven years, virus infections have been treated and cured in a period of seventy-two hours by the employment of massive frequent injections of ascorbic acid, or vitamin C.  I believe that if Vitamin C in these massive doses – 6,000 to 20,000 mg in a twenty-four hour period – is given to these patients with poliomyelitis none will  be paralyzed and there will be no further maiming or epidemics of poliomyelitis.’

Why Consider Natural Alternatives To Vaccinations?

Vaccinations are given for specific diseases, which means you have to have quite a variety to prevent all the different viruses going around.

Multiple vaccinations are a very risky thing to human health, and we can never know exactly the damage that combined vaccinations do to the immune system.

Vaccinations do nothing to raise the health levels of a person – they just, hopefully, prevent it.

Leslie Roberts wrote on the 24th January 2013 that the polio virus has moved to Cairo from Pakistan.  The same strain of the virus was last observed in Pakistan, in September 2012.

‘A vaccination programme to treat children is being carried out in many countries to try and eradicate the disease.  But people do not seem to be aware, firstly, that the polio virus can be transmitted from a vaccinated person, and, secondly, that the virus has a 9 to 10 year cycle.’

The natural cycles of a disease, with its peak periods, and lulls, can mislead researchers into believing that their vaccines and immunization techniques are the reason the disease has been declining.  Such could be the case with Polio, because of its natural 10 year cycle.  If you count the polio cases during a lull period, then you could be satisfied because of the reduced numbers of people affected, that the vaccinations, which were given during the peak of the disease, have been effective.

Klenner, Levy, Dr Brighthope in Australia, and many other researchers, believe Polio can be treated and prevented with Vitamin C.  Polio can also be treated, like other childhood illnesses, with Vitamin A.

Natural Remedies

Culpeper says of Sage that it ’causes the hair to become black’.

Garden sage has many therapeutic uses.

In the garden, its flowers provide medicine and nectar for the bees, as well as a herbal tonic to the neighbouring plants.

It is well-known as an aid to oral hygiene.  It has strong antiseptic qualities and is supposed to whiten tooth enamel.

Sage is still used today in some tooth-pastes.  It is reputedly one effective remedy for bleeding gums,  and improving gum health:  The crushed fresh leaves are massaged several times a day onto the gums and teeth.

The tea is gargled to relieve sore throats, colds and flu,  and ulcers in the mouth.

It can be effective to reduce fevers, and has been used in the past for thyphoid fever. (see ‘Herbal Remedies  and Homeopathy’ published by Geddes and Grosset.)

It is a valuable nerve medicine, and is a useful stomach remedy for improving a weak appetite.

Natural Herbal Hair Dye and Tonic:  Sage can help restore healthy hair and improve the colour.

Strong sage tea encourages hair growth and darkens the hair, if it is used on a regular basis. Many herbalists describe it in their writings:  see John Heinerman’s ‘Encyclopedia of Fruits Vegetables and Herbs’.

Rosemary is another wonderful herb which can help hair growth, but it does not have such a darkening effect on the hair, as sage does.

Recipe For Sage Hair Dye:  Here is a simple, natural hair dye and tonic which you can try.  It is perfectly safe to use, as it does not contain any harmful additives such as you might find in commercial dyes for darkening the hair.

Take two cups of fresh sage leaves and put into a stainless steel saucepan.

Add one cup of dry black tea leaves

Add half a cup of cider vinegar and eight cups of water.

Simmer very gently, with no lid, for one hour on a very low heat.  You should have around half the original quantity of liquid left at the end of an hour.  If you need to add a little more water, make sure you do so well before you finish simmering the brew.  If you add more water at the end of the simmering, then your mixture will not keep so well.

Take off the heat after an hour of simmering.  Set aside to cool.

Once your sage mixture has cooled properly, strain it off.

To the liquid remaining add the same amount of vodka.

Put into a bottle with a screw-top lid and store in a cool place.

Massage around a tablespoonful of the sage infusion into the hair each day.  Use more or less, depending on how much hair you need to cover.

Massage the sage tonic well into the roots of the hair as well, so that it feeds the scalp and hair follicles.  Massaging the scalp with the sage tonic will help the hair to grow again.

The oils in the sage leaves will put a natural shine to the hair.

Once the hair is sufficiently darkened, which may take several weeks, you can reduce the amount of applications each week.  Once or twice a week may be enough to maintain the darker colour.

Sage is really very good for the hair in so many ways.

Alternative Sage Tonic Without Alcohol:  You could make up your sage tea without the alcohol if you wish.  Only, remember that your mixture will not keep for longer than a week, and it must be kept in the fridge.  You could make up a lesser amount, enough to last a week, and then make up a fresh brew of tea for the following week.

Allergy To Printing Ink And Bleached Paper Causes Candida

Toxic Chemicals

I been aware of the toxic nature of printing inks and paper for many years.  The chemicals used in the paper and printing industries, such as chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, and goodness knows what else, can upset the intestinal flora, which can result in candida outbreaks.

Migraine headaches, poor memory, high or low blood pressure, nausea, nervous twitches and other allergic symptoms can result in sensitive people who become over-exposed to these chemicals.  In time, if exposure to these chemicals continues, then I believe that serious diseases such as multiple sclerosis, parkinson’s. cancer, and arthritis could arise, especially with the synergistic effect of RoundUp weedkiller or other toxic pesticides which people commonly use.

Interesting to note that just last Saturday, I heard the news on radio which told us of the discovery that some antibiotics are made redundant by weedkillers such as RoundUp.

Well, this is no surprise:  I do not talk about using antibiotics much, as I am a proponent of the homeopathic/holistic approach.  But I have found weedkillers and pesticides such as snail bait to cause severe candidiasis when my neighbours have used these chemicals.  If they so readily kill bacteria in the bowel, then they will also be capable of destroying antibiotic medicines.

Studying at university was made especially difficult for me, because of my sensitivity to photocopied material.  Handling photocopies, or handling newsprint on a daily basis caused me migraine headaches, nausea, made my nerves shake, and affected my memory.

Handling cardboard boxes also causes these problems: on the occasions I have been moving house, which has required the handling of a good many boxes over a good many days, I have become sick with the same old allergies.

The allergy to printing inks and bleached papers became even more acute during the time that New Zealand’s MAF was regularly aerially spraying toxic chemicals over much of Auckland, ostensibly to rid us of the ‘apple moth’, around 2003 to 2005.  This spraying of our environment made many people very ill.  Eventually, Victoria |University in Wellington proved that the apple moth poison was most definitely adversely affecting the health of Aucklanders, and so the programme was stopped.

I have found that printing inks and bleached paper if you are exposed to enough of them,  are about as damaging to the immune system as herbicides such as RoundUp, and many toxic pesticides.  They all have the effect of killing off the good bacteria in the digestive system, which causes inadequate digestion and allergies or sensitivities to various foods.

It is a fortunate thing, though, that one can avoid over-exposure to printing ink/paper toxins, and it surely is unfortunate that we often have no choice in the matter regarding our exposure to toxic herbicides and pesticides:  we have to suffer the latter because there is no law which prevents people from poisoning our environment.

But even without harmful chemicals such as ‘RoundUp’, or apple moth spray, printing ink chemicals, and bleached paper still make me sick if exposure to them goes on for long.

Very recently, I was offered a great deal to have the local newspaper delivered, and so |I decided to try it.  I thought that if I was very careful, and kept the newspapers out of the house, then I might be able to enjoy reading the paper each day.

After around two weeks, all the old allergic reactions appeared.  After three weeks or so of continuing to receive the papers, I felt I might have a stroke.  Now I have stopped handling and reading the papers until the alllergy symptoms subside.

Natural Remedies to Counteract Allergic Reaction:  Homeopathic Arnica/Symphytum is working well to reduce blood pressure and relieve the headache.  Thuja on occasion is also good.  Rhus Tox did not work so well, but instead, exacerbated the symptoms of poisoning. Arnica/Symphytum has a very cooling, calming effect, is great for shocks to the system, and so I am sticking to that for the next few days.

Note:  The Arnica was followed by Urtica Urens once it became apparent that I had developed a urinary infection.  Chlorine bleach and formaldehyde, found in printing inks and newspaper, alter  the pH level.  This results in an over-alkaline body which can breed urinary or bladder infections.  I remember this was a problem whilst studying at uni and handling so many photocopies. Photocopy toxins, plus MAF’s apple-moth killing toxic chemicals being sprayed every few weeks over Auckland , resulted in almost continual urinary tract infections.

Three consecutive doses of 2000mg of non-acidic Vitamin C in the one day, plus around 5 doses of Homeopathic Urtica Urens 30C, served to rapidly fix the kidney and bladder infection.

I wondered about my neighbour, who had a mild stroke only a week ago:  He h as a weak heart and is prone to strokes, but he also gets his paper delivered.

Blood pressure was affected, causing the body to overheat, with extreme migraine headache and bloodshot eyes.  The smell of the newsprint seems to have permeated the house, even though the discarded papers are kept outside the back door.

I have stopped the delivery for the weekdays, but have decided to try getting just the weekend papers.  My aim this time is to wear protective gloves so that I do not absorb any chemicals from the paper through the skin on the hands.

I figure if I want to avoid a stroke and memory loss, both of which are healthy concerns to keep with my advancing age, then I it will pay to be extra cautious about the handling of such things as newsprint or photocopied material of any kind:  This is one area of my environment which I do have some control over.

Temporary Allergy To Drying Sage Leaves

Sudden extreme sensitivity to newspaper print caused a sudden allergy to the sage leaves which I picked only yesterday.  They have had to go back out into the garden, along with the newspapers which are awaiting the paper collection on Friday.

Sage is usually OK for me to keep in the house in small quantities.  I had picked several cupsful this time, to dry before the winter.  The effect of having these leaves outside the door in the sun was simply intolerable today, after becoming sensitized to the newsprint.

This evening, I have discarded all the sage into the furthermost point of the garden.    Sage is obviously a borderline item for me, which I am probably best to leave alone, except for picking a leaf or two of fresh sage occasionally, straight from the garden.

Herbs like sage, in quantities far beyond that needed for flavouring one dish, can have a very disturbing effect on the nervous system.

I do not think that I will be dying my graying hair black with sage afterall.

Conclusion:  Herbs in concentration need to be avoided by sensitive people.
