Natural Antibiotic and Detoxifying Drink For Flu and Other Infections

Alternative To Antibiotics:  Garlic, Vitamin C, Cinnamon, Paprika, Ginger and lemon juice all contain natural antibiotics.  That is, they contain ingredients which kill bacteria.  These herbs and spices are  capable of killing germs in the blood stream, such as the flu virus, and also the germs which cause chicken pox, scarlet fever, meningitis, and other diseases.  Once you get used to using the natural sources of antibiotics in treating common illnesses such as flu,  your confidence in natural remedies will be boosted so that you will never want to take another vaccination again.  Sometimes, of course, prescription antibiotics are necessary, but for the majority of people, if the illness is treated early enough, then the natural antibiotics found in herbs and foods such as garlic and lemons, will be effective in alleviating and curing most common infections.

Here is a version of a detoxifying antibiotic drink which the wonderful Dr John Hilton gave to me many years ago.  Dr John was an alternative doctor who practiced in the Green Bay area of Auckland many years ago.  He delivered two of my babies.  I learned many good health tips from this compassionate and wise man.

Dr John’s Remedy For Flu:  The  Natural Antibiotic and Detoxifying Drink

Juice of half a large lemon

1/4 teaspoon paprika pepper

1/4 teaspoon ginger root powder

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

2 cloves of crushed or chopped garlic

1 or 2 teaspoons liquid honey

1 large cup of boiling water.

Use a small bowl to prepare this natural antibiotic drink for flu:  Pour the boiling water over the garlic, cinnamon, ginger root powder, and paprika.  Add the liquid honey and the lemon juice.

Allow to cool for a couple of minutes, then drink the lot while it is still hot.

Repeat the dose every hour while the infection is rampant.  Use it every hour for around four to five hours if necessary.  Then use three times a day until the infection has subsided, or until the bowels have become loose.  This might be anything up to three days.  If you are not getting better by this time, then you should visit a doctor or health professional such as a homeopath or ayurvedic practitioner.

Detoxifying the Body Is Necessary To Cure Disease:  This natural antibiotic garlic and lemon and cinnamon drink helps to detoxify the body.  Loosening the bowels is a good thing in any illness, as it gets rid of the toxins which otherwise feed the infection, thus making it last longer.  By using this natural remedy, you help the body recover through the natural antibiotics  in the ingredients, as well as by removing the poisons in the system which encourage infection.

Fasting:  This natural antibiotic and detoxifying drink for flu will work best if you do not eat other food, at least for one day.  If you need to eat, then taking oranges, or stewed apple, will help the detoxification process.  Heavy meals are best avoided for the first day or two, while treating flu with this antibiotic and detoxifying drink.

Home Made Castor Oil and Egg Conditioner To Help Hair Growth

Natural Remedy For Dry And Falling Hair

IMG_6820

Of course you need to pay attention to your diet if your hair is falling.  More protein in the diet, more Vitamin B rich foods such as liver, brewer’s yeast if you are vegetarian, more organic free range eggs, more almonds, sunflower seeds and sesame, and more dark greens such as broccoli.  Cooked comfrey, a leaf or two added to silver beet once or twice a week,  can do wonders for the hair.  Comfrey tea, or nettle tea, taken as a drink, provides silica to the bones  and teeth, and to the hair follicles. The silica in comfrey or nettle tea  helps to build strong hair, bones, nails and teeth.

Some medications can cause the hair to thin.  The oral contraceptives, for women, are probably the main worry for hair health.

Use this  home made castor oil and egg nourisher to help restore the hair to its former beauty.  You can condition the hair with this once or twice a week, which should help improve hair growth if it is used regularly in combination with an improved diet.

Recipe For Home Made Castor Oil and Egg Conditioner:

You will need

2 free range eggs

1 tablespoon of castor oil

1 tablespoon of wheatgerm or almond oil

1 tablespoon of glycerine

2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar

2 drops of rosemary oil if you have it.

Put all ingredients for the home made conditioner into a small bowl and beat all together.

Now wash the hair with your usual shampoo or sunlight soap.  Towel dry, and then apply the castor oil and egg conditioner mixture above.  Massage well into the scalp and cover all the hair too.  Leave on for half an hour.  Put a shower cap over the head with a warm towel over the top.

Wash out with shampoo or soap and warm water after half an hour.  You will need to use several applications of shampoo or soap.  Use rosemary tea as the final rinse for the hair.  Rosemary is rich in silica and oils, and puts a great shine on the hair.

Rosemary Tea For Final Hair Rinse:

Use one cup of rosemary leaves and stalks simmered in one and a half  cups  of water for five minutes.  Strain and cool.  Massage into the hair at the end of the last shampoo while the hair is still wet.

Banana Alfalfa Drink- A Natural RemedyTo Help Arthritis And Lose Weight

This is a Natural Cleansing Technique:  Banana Alfalfa Drink can help  combat constipation. I have included  gluten free options in the recipe below.

Most arthritics suffer congestion in the bowels of some sort.  Every degenerative disease, in fact, begins in the bowel.  Even if you are not aware of having ‘constipation’, chances are you will have congested bowels, known as constipation.  If  you have cancer, or arthritis, or some other disease, then the bowels will most certainly need plenty of attention, to reverse the condition.   Pockets of waste material can gather in the intestines, and these build up over time, causing auto-intoxication of the body. This can cause uncomfortable reactions, with bloating, tiredness, irritability and depression,  but the end result will be a degenerative disease if the situation is allowed to continue.

So – here is a dietary remedy to cure constipation.  It will also help you to lose weight if it is taken instead of other foods for breakfast several times a week.  Of course, you will need to be prudent with your food choices for the rest of the day.  AND, if you have a health problem and are taking medication of any sort, then you should ask your doctor or naturopath or homeopath about whether this banana smoothie drink is right for you.

The foods in this smoothie will  help to make the body more alkaline – always a help in avoiding disease of any kind – It will provide that essential  bulk, or roughage, which will help to cleanse those clogged intestines, which is another disease-deterrent.

You can substitute this drink for your normal breakfast several days in the week.  It is nutritionally sound, with raw egg, wheat germ, almonds, sesame seeds, dates and banana, which provide many B vitamins, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, magnesium, calcium,  and other nutrients.  Note:  While raw egg white is not recommended because it depletes the body of Biotin, egg white can be safely taken raw without depleting any vitamins,  if it is beaten up with other foods.  Raw egg yolk is highly nutritious, and is given by some therapists such as Walter Last and Dr max Gerson, for treating serious illness such as cancer, arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

Recipe For Cleansing Nourishing Banana Smoothie Breakfast

One large ripe banana.

5  dried apricots OR 5 dates

One cup full cream milk, or soy milk

1 raw egg

2 tablespoons wheat bran:  Omit this if you are gluten sensitive and use 2 tablespoons dessicated coconut instead.

1 tablespoon wheatgerm:  Omit this if you are gluten sensitive and use a tablespoon of sunflower seeds instead.

1 tablespoon psyllium husks

1 teaspoon brewer’s yeast:  Omit this if you are gluten sensitive

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

3 almonds

1/2 cup of alfalfa sprouts

Into the blender bowl put the sesame seeds and almonds.  Blend these up first of all.  Then add the banana, milk, egg, and all other ingredients.

Blend altogether for two minutes.  Drink in place of breakfast.  This is a good breakfast replacement for people who are inclined to rush out the door without eating breakfast.  Take a cup before you leave, and take the rest to work with you.

Importance of Magnesium In Preventing Heart Attack and Lowering Stress

Magnesium The Magician of Minerals

‘Your Health – Vitamins and Minerals’ by Russell Frank Atkinson, 1982, Doubleday Australia, Lane Cove, NSW, gives results of research which put magnesium at the top of the list of life-supporting minerals.

Russell Atkinson states: “One researcher, Dr Harry Rubin, Professor of Molecular Biology at Berkeley, believes that magnesium is the central control of cellular life because it integrates all the processes.”

Magnesium, like calcium,  works as an antispasmodic which can be used as a sedative. It has a soothing effect on the tissues. Because of its tranquillizing effects, it is sometimes used to treat delirium tremens, epilepsy, and convulsions, according to Russell Atkinson in 1982.

Magnesium is important for the heart and the nervous system.  Russell Atkinson says that low magnesium levels cause cardiac necrosis and heart failure.  If you observe this list of ailments caused by lack of magnesium, you will understand why magnesium is so important for helping to prevent that heart attack:  Lack of magnesium can result in  anxiety, muscle twitching, heart palpitations, tachycardia, spasmodic jerking of muscles at night while drifting off to sleep,  called ‘myclonian jerk’,  confusion and lack of coherent speech, and, in severe cases, delirium with hallucinations, convulsions and coma.

Why Too Much Salt is Bad For The Heart:  Magnesium assimilation in the body is spoiled by the presence of sodium, which is why too much salt in the diet is a bad thing.  Too much sodium will produce a magnesium deficiency. This is why we should be moderate with our salt intake, and why people at risk of heart attack must have very little salt.

Deficiency of magnesium: Magnesium is important for the growth of bones and in maintaining healthy teeth.  Deficiency of magnesium can result in bones becoming brittle, as well as the teeth.  Hair can begin to fall out with lack of magnesium.  This is because magnesium is an integral mineral for digestion. If you are deficient in magnesium, then you begin to suffer deficiencies of other vitamins and minerals as well, as well as suffering poor digestion.

Deficiency of magnesium can result in too much calcium being taken up in the kidney tissues, resulting in kidney stones.

Processed Food Contains Little Magnesium, which is a good reason to avoid processed food.

Artificial Fertilizers Affect Magnesium Levels in Plants:  Plants grown on soils where artificial fertilizers containing potassium are used will have a reduced level of magnesium than when these fertilizers are not used.  This is not the case where organic fertilizers are used:  Organic, bio-dynamic fertilizers do not interfere with the body’s natural processing of vitamins and minerals.  Organic fertilizers will feed the soil with the very minerals and vitamins which nature intended for it.

Research Shows Magnesium Is Helpful For Heart Disease:  Dr Hans Selye, who used ‘parenteral magnesium sulphate therapy’,  is quoted in the 1958 ‘South American Journal’ with this message:

“The value of parenteral magnesium therapy in acute and chronic heart disease has once again been affirmed.  125 cases of angina have been treated by five workers with 66% remission of pain….

64% of acute coronary thrombosis or acute coronary insufficiency have been treated.  Of these, only one died in a heart attack.”

Russell Atkinson ends his section on Magnesium with the statement that, since magnesium can alleviate and prevent so many common disorders, it appears strange that magnesium is not used more widely in medicine.

It seems not a lot has changed since 1982:  Preventative medicine where diet, herbs, minerals and vitamins, and homeopathy,  are all effectively used to both prevent and treat certain diseases, still comes second to prescription medicine in popularity.  This is because drug companies have resisted the truth – that there is no need for the majority of  us to suffer long standing sickness in life.

How To Make Herbal Soap With Oatmeal

Home Made Herbal Soap Recipe:

IMG_1286

Because this soap recipe uses caustic soda, it is best to make it outside, or, if inside, near a wide open window.  You do have to be careful not to breathe the fumes:   Caustic soda burns, so be very careful  not to get any on your skin, or to breathe its fumes, whilst using it.  If you have an accident and do get a drop on the skin, then wash off immediately under cold running water.  The recipe uses only a small quantity of caustic soda – 3 teaspoons – but you still need to exercise care.  Do not make this soap recipe when there  are children around.

Use herbs such as rosemary, comfrey, clary sage, feverfew, lemon geranium, lavender buds, or finely chopped lemon peel.

Take 50 gm, or 2 oz of your chosen fresh herbs.  Chop up very finely.  Pour over 1/4 pint of boiling water, which is roughly 3/4 of a teacup.  Leave to infuse for 1/2 an hour.

Now line your soap dishes.  You can use any small bowls, such as Chinese or Japanese sauce dishes.  For the quantity of this recipe, you would need no more than three. You can use either fine plastic glad wrap, or greased paper, or a small piece of fine cotton cloth, such as gauze, or muslin to line your soap dishes.   If using cloth, wet it first, then wring it our before lining the wee bowl.

Now strain your herbal infusion into a glass or china bowl – you must not use metals with caustic soda.  Gradually sprinkle over the caustic soda, using a plastic or wooden  spoon.

Now, in a medium sized cooking pot, put 1/2 pint of olive oil, 4 oz of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of glycerine.  Gently warm up and mix together.

Take off the heat and carefully add it to the caustic soda and herb mixture, stirring well as you add it.  Now beat the whole mixture for about 20 minutes.  This can be done with a hand beater, or with an electric hand-held whisk.  The beating is an essential part of the process, as it puts air into the mixture, which creates the soap.  Then, when it is done, add 2 tablespoons of fine oatmeal with 2 tablespoons of the essential oil of your choice:  Patchouli, or rosemary, lavender, neroli, ylang ylang, all make beautifully perfumed soaps.  You could use cedar or tea tree if you wanted a more masculine tone.

Stir in the oatmeal and essential oils, then pour into your wee lined china or glass moulds.  Leave the soap to set for about 3 days.  After this time, you can remove your set soap from its mould, wrap in clean waxed paper, or some glad-wrap.  Let the soap mature before using.  It is best kept  in a dry place for around 2 to 3 weeks.

These little soaps make neat gifts for people.  They can be wrapped in coloured cellophane paper and tied with ribbon.
