Ideas For Using Castor Oil

May 15th, 2016

Natural Remedies The Healing Benefits of Castor Oil are numerous. I put up a post with the title 'Ideas For Using Castor Oil' several years ago.  I don't know why the article has disappeared, but here is an attempt at a rewrite of that post: Regrow Hair and Condition the Scalp: One of the most common uses for castor oil is as a hair generator.  If castor oil is massaged into the scalp once a week, left on for several hours if possible, or overnight with a wrap over the head, then massaged out with a good organic soap or shampoo, the hair will ...

May 14th, 2016

Toxic Chemicals: Thirty Tonnes of Brodifacoum Dropped on Whangaparaoa Shakespear Park, New Zealand. This article was previously published by Merrilyn in 2012. Seagulls in Danger:  Photo by Merrilyn on Holly's camera, 2012. And since this drop, thousands of seagulls have been picked up dead off our shores up here.  2500 dead seagulls  within one week have been picked up off our local beaches, near where the Brodifacoum was dropped, and a total of 10,000 dead seagulls has been given for the general area, including Muriwai Beach, which is not very far away 'as the seagull flies'.   This will be a very conservative figure.  How ...

Environment Agricultural Chemicals and the use of Toxic Herbicides and Pesticides In New Zealand: This post was first published in 2012 on this website and has just been restored. New Zealand's TV1 reported on 13th December 2012 that a rye grass grown in the South Island has developed a resistance to the glyphosate weedkillers. Monsanto's RoundUp weedkiller is one such weedkiller which contains glyphosate. Good to bring this herbicide into the spot-light again, More knowledge about glyphosate and its harmful effects might cause people to think twice about using it. WHO have declared glyphosate a probable cancer risk since first publishing this article. Merrilyn's new ...

May 14th, 2016

Natural Remedies Chickweed is a valuable cleansing herb which people generally refer to as a weed. Chickweed can be eaten in the spring, when its fresh new growth is very succulent and palatable.  In olden days, in England, it was commonly taken to cleanse the blood after a long winter when fresh fruit and vegetables might have been scarce. Chickweed is high in Vitamin C and mineral salts. Warning: Take care when picking the chickweed herb. Its leaf and its habitat is similar to scarlet pimpernel which is poisonous.  The scarlet pimpernel has a distinctive small scarlet coloured flower, which makes it easy to ...

Dandelion Leaves Recommended To Lower Blood Pressure

May 12th, 2016

Natural Remedy A friend of mine went to her doctor recently because she felt her blood pressure was not right.  She has never suffered high blood pressure before. Her blood pressure was tested and found to be on the high side, although not dangerously so.  I have admiration for her doctor, who did not immediately dish out pharmaceutical preparations to lower her blood pressure, but instead recommended that she eat some fresh dandelion leaves each day. Dandelions are a very healing herb, and I believe every household should nurture a few in the cottage garden, or in plant pots at the door.  They ...
