Last year, on the 31st October, the 50th anniversary of the visit which musician and anti apartheid activist Paul Robeson made to New Zealand in 1960, was celebrated at the Unitarian Church, Ponsonby Road, Auckland, New Zealand. It was exactly 50 years to the day, the 31st October, that Paul Robeson sang in the Auckland Town Hall. Sunday the 31st October 2010 marked 50 years to the day. On October 31st this year 2011, it will be 51 years since Paul Robeson made his historic visit to New Zealand.

Sidney Bechet was born in the lively port-city of New Orleans, on the banks of the Mississippi. Cottonsoft Toilet Paper Linked To Forest Destruction In Indonesia

The Warehouse has taken action at Greenpeace's request, to suspend the importation of Cottonsoft because of its links to the destruction of rainforest in Indonesia. 'Cottonsoft' toilet paper apparently comes from Indonesia, from the forests which are being felled ruthlessly for profit. Greenpeace asked the toilet paper retailers two weeks ago, The Warehouse, Foodstuffs, and Progressives, if they would consider a boycott on the importing of the 'Cottonsoft' brand of toilet paper, because of its origins.

The Crown Drops Charges, 2nd September 2011, Against Thirteen of those accused of terrorist activities in 2007. These poor people have suffered tremendous anxiety for almost four years before 'The Crown' finally decided that they did not have enough evidence to jail these people. They have been detained for so long under the 'Terrorism Suppression Act', which gives the government special powers to detain anybody, really, at any time, for whatever reason, with the real purpose of arrest being kept secret. This is a dangerous thing for a democracy.
