Hi Lin. Thanks so much for your comments. Isn't it interesting to note that the things which affect our general health, very often affect the memory? I find that if my general health is good, then my memory improves as well, and so does my eyesight.
Once the poisons get cleared from the body, an improvement in memory is usually one result, as well as feeling great.
Not enough alkaline foods, too much sugar, coffee, tea, combined with not enough good pure water, can affect memory and eyesight. Sluggish bowels can also cause memory loss and poor eyesight, and eating too much bread and wheat products, and dairy foods, can make the bowels sluggish and lazy. This causes poisons to sit around in the bowels where they become absorbed again into the blood stream - something to be avoided, for sure.
Personally, I find that keeping clear of environmental poisons as much as possible, such as herbicides, pesticides, and even dental plastics, is also a big factor in maintaining my mental alertness, and keeping the eyesight good.
Of course, it is important to eat wisely, with plenty of fruits and vegetables as part of the daily diet.
Fasting on juices once a week or fortnight, or taking castor oil occasionally, also helps my eyesight and memory function.
It is a matter of keeping the body as clean as poss, and keeping it well nourished - just like keeping a car, really. If all the parts are maintained, cleaned occasionally from the inside out, and fed the right kind of fuel, then the whole thing will function well and last a long time.
Best Regards to you and your Mother,
Merrilyn.

Thank you for this excellent, vital information. I recently stopped eating sugar after dinner, and have been noticing increasing health benefits + a decreasing waistline.
However, I relaxed and ate a few chocolate covered almonds...and soon became bloated and gassy--I had just fed the yeasties. A good lesson, which led me to this fine article.
As importantly, currently I am caring for my mother with Alzheimer's. She has always had a heavy sugar habit and now I'm noticing all the bread she eats as well.
