Some Clues On Cancer In Pets

It is not an uncommon thing these days for animals to get cancer.  Our household pets often succumb to cancer.

Even animals in the wild are suffering this disease.  Soon after I first published the gist of this article on my website,  Channel 3 TVNZ featured a nature programme which showed a koala being treated for cancer in Queensland, Australia. The vets on the programme said that they often treated koalas for cancer.This was around 25th September, 2010.

Agricultural chemicals and industial pollution surely must be the reason that koalas living in the bush of  Queensland, are getting cancer. Glyphosphates found in the common weedkiller RoundUp have been linked to cancer. This herbicide is used widely in New Zealand, and probably Australia too. The World Health Organization has announced that glyphosphates ‘probably cause cancer’. Gobal warming and the erosion of the ozone layer might be a factor too.

There is almost always a catalyst, a toxic chemical which can be identified as the cause of cancer.  If it isn’t toxic chemicals in the air and on the land, it could very well be some poisonous product we are using or putting on our bodies.  Jacqui Davison, who famously recovered from terminal cancer and regrew her hair and teeth in the process, had her cancer analysed. Results showed that her cancer had developed from her toe nail.  She had kept her nails permanently painted with nail polish, which is loaded with formaldehyde, one known cause of cancer.

Well, nail polish won’t be the reason for cancer in those koalas, or our household pets, but there are some obvious ways in which dogs and cats can get poisoned. Here are the main ones:

  • Herbicide such as RoundUp, a glyphosphate, sprayed onto grass verges where dogs and cats may walk.
  • Chemicals in food, such as agricultural herbicides, growth hormones, and antibiotics in animal feed which is  given to chickens, sheep and cows.   Preservatives, artificial flavourings and flavour enhancers in dog and cat food  are also bad.
  • A diet high in processed food which is deficient in important life-giving minerals and vitamins.
  • Toxic flea killers and de-wormers.  The poisonous flea collar is one of the worst culprits.  The  poor animal has to continually absorb the chemicals from such, all the day and night long.

Most insecticides which are used to deflea cats and dogs are incredibly toxic. Harmful chemicals should never be used anywhere in our environment, but toxic flea collars and potions have an added hazard. You have to remember that every time you pat your pet you get some of the poison from its coat or flea collar on your hands.  These flea killers are made to be absorbed readily through the dog’s skin, and they are just as readily absorbed through your own skin too.

A seemingly harmless thing such as a flea killer will have ongoing negative effects on you and your pet which cannot really be measured.  The harmful effects of a simple little flea killer are big.  Cancer and arthritis, multiple sclerosis, parkinson’s disease, are some of the serious degenerative  diseases which can be caused from chemicals found in many poisonous flea killers.

It might take several years for sickness to develop in your dog, or yourself, because of a poisonous insecticide which you use regularly on your pet.  But it is inevitable that your pet will eventually suffer with the use of harmful pesticides on his or her skin.

Toxic Pesticides Can Cause Depression: Pesticide use also affects the emotional and physical states  of your pet.   Your pet is affected immediately upon  coming into contact with flea poisons.  Flea  usuallymake an animal feel sick for a start. Have you noticed your dog getting depressed, losing the appetite, looking sad and moping around,  or getting hyperactive after applying flea killing chemiclals to its coat, or giving it a pill for the eradication of fleas?

You see the same effect on cats, who often get jittery after having flea killers put on them. You often see dogs and cats in a frenzy, trying to rub this stuff off on the grass immediately after they have been dosed.

The two main long term effects of using toxic chemicals on your pets, or giving them poisons internally, are arthritis and cancer.  Types of muscular dystrophy are also not uncommon in dogs and cats. Depression, hyperactivity and diseases of the nervous system can also develop when toxic chemicals are used regularly on your pets.

The answer is ‘no’ to  poisonous chemicals. We must stop using harmful chemicals on our pets, or anywhere in our environment.  There are organic products which will do the job of getting rid of fleas.  There are home-made remedies which we can make to kill fleas or to deter them.  These remedies may not be quite as effective as the harmful commercial poisons, but it is far better to have the odd flea about than risk getting cancer or arthritis yourself, or have your dog or cat suffer these diseases.

Poisoning From Unknown Herbicides: The legal spraying of poisonous herbicides such as glyphosphate around the place is a serious problem.  While people are still allowed to use toxic chemicals wherever they choose, we have no control over our exposure or the exposure of our pets to these toxic chemicals.

But dogs and cats are especially at risk, because they absorb the chemicals which are sprayed on the grass straight into their little paws. They have DIRECT contact with these harmful chemicals which are sprayed about the place. Herbicide use around parks and grass verges in the city pose a real threat to all dogs and cats living in the area.  On farms, dogs are at risk when paddocks are sprayed with chemicals, as are the animals who will eventually get to eat the grass. All toxic herbicides and insecticides should be banned.  Only natural organic, or herbal, or homeopathic herbicides and pesticides should be allowed, especially where food is produced, or in the cities where people, and dogs and cats roam.  That means there is  no suitable  and safe place for the use of any toxic chemicals.

Preventative Medicine

Preventative Medicine is really what it should all  be about:  far better to prevent a malady of the health rather than wait for it to happen, and then have to seek  drug treatments which are expensive and which, most probably, will not cure the condition anyway.

Just how popular is ‘Preventative Medicine’?  How much do people really care about ‘Preventative Medicine’?

Today is the 30th August 2010, and there are only 11 searches recorded for the day in Google’s search engine for ‘Preventative Medicine’, which is nothing really, considering that there are 177 searches for ‘warfarin’ and 177 for ‘side effects of warfarin’.  Imagine that – 177 people in a day looking up the side effects of warfarin, and only a portion of that – only 11 people all over the world, looking up ‘Preventative Medicine’.

Warfarin in my opinion, is one of the worst modern drugs. It is dished out to people willy nilly, and once you begin taking it, it seems you are on it for life.  I don’t know of ANYONE who has taken warfarin just  for a while until they get better.  Warfarin is a blood thinner.

Now – Calcium Ascorbate is a  natural blood thinner.  So is Garlic a natural blood thinner.  So is Ginger.  So is Cayenne Pepper.  So is grapefruit a natural blood thinner. There are many foods which thin the blood naturally, without having to take Warfarin for life.

One of the bad things about taking Warfarin is that you have to avoid all the naturally occuring blood thinners like grapefruit and other high vitamin C foods. This is not good for the liver or the gall bladder – or anything else, I should imagine.

I know somebody who began taking Warfarin in his early 30’s and has been taking it for almost 40 years.  He has recently had his gall bladder  removed because of cancer, and is now waiting for a liver operation to remove some of the liver, because there is now cancer in his liver.   There was still time  before the last operation for an alternative treatment, if only he had realized, however now that he has entered the cycle of operations which remove  vital organs, or parts of them, his vitality is decreasing rapidly, and so alternative cures would have a hard job revitalizing this man’s body. Also, he has taken Warfarin for so long now that he cannot imagine being able to live at all without it.  He believes his life depends on it.

Why is this?  Why are people not so tuned in to thinking about preventative medicine?

I quote from the 2005  ‘Touch For Health:  The Complete Manual’, written by John Thie, the founder of ‘Touch For Health’,  and his son Matthew Thie.  It is published by DeVorss and Co,  P.O. Box 1389, Camarillo CA 93011-1389:

  • page v of the Introduction reads “…..The Touch for Health book and educational program was my way of providing some simple tools and processes that each of us can use to regain a role and authority in our own care.
  • Today, more than 30 years later, things have by and large gotten worse.  While awareness of these problems has increased, and there is a resurgence of traditional and alternative approaches to healthcare, drug companies have become more aggressive in their advertising, manipulative of research, whether public or private, and there is ever greater emphasis on “conditions” requiring long-term and even life-long medication.  Our profit driven, high-tech medicine, arguably the most advanced crisis care ever developed, has become costly and dangerous, while simpler preventative measures seem to have fallen by the wayside.
  • In fact, the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the United States.”

These authors give some alarming statistics on the practices of modern American orthodox medcicine. They claim that:

  • “Tens of millions of people unnecessarily take antibiotics, 9 million people are unnecessarily hospitalized, 7.5 million unnecessary medical and surgical procedures are performed, 2.2 million people have adverse drug reactions to prescribed medicines, and 783,936 deaths are caused by conventional medicine each year.

The fact is, that most disease can be prevented.  There are a wide range of alternative health practitioners who can advise on methods to prevent disease becomoing established, and whose methods are effective in treating even more serious disease.  However, preventative medicine is really the key.

The idea is to increase body vitality so that the immune system is strong and your powers of  resistance to disease are working optimally.

Yoga exercise which teaches good breathing,  meditation exercises such as yoga nidra, good diet, positive thinking  including Reiki healing, the Power of Prayer and Spiritual healing, and Music therapy,  are so important in helping to prevent disease.  Acupressure techniques, including  DoIn, Tsubo, Shiatsu, Qi Gong, and the more modern Touch For Health, are all ways in which your Prana, or vital energy can be maximized, and so they are all helpful in restoring health and preventing  disease.

Visiting an Ayurvedic health practitioner, or a Chinese or Tibetan herbalist, or a homeopath are some of the alternatives which can improve the vitality and immunity and prevent a serious disease from setting in.

Our health practitioners, ideally, should recognize the symptoms of a disease early in the piece so that remedial action can be taken, the vitality improved, and a natural recovery is assisted.

Modern medicine, on the other hand, tends to define a disease which people get stuck with, along with the expensive drug which people believe is necessary.

Most people have a reverence and respect for the doctor’s word. The doctor, backed up by the drug company who is making the profit, tells them that they must take a certain drug for a certain condition, and that they will need to keep taking that drug for goodness knows how long.   People  usually don’t know any better,  so they accept treatment without question, and the drug companies like it this way.

Some people like it this way too, as it means they do not have to DO anything about their condition if they believe that a medicine-drug is all that they have to take to manage their disease.  Disease, unless you are unlucky from birth or some unusual  freak event,  often  comes at us  through our own  poor lifestyle choices –  bad living,  poor nutrition and negative thinking.

However, the biggest causes of disease in our modern society are:

Environmental toxins, medical drugs,  poisons and preservatives in our food, and electromagnetic radiation from modern technology such as cell phones and living close to excessively high power sources:  these  all lead to disease.  This is really why alternative therapies  such as detox diets which help you to detoxify chemicals from your body,  and foods and methods which improve your vitality and immune function, are so important in preventing disease.

Spiritual Healing

The Power of Prayer

Spiritual Healing, which is virtually healing done with the power of prayer, and good intention,  is something we are all capable of doing, or learning how to do.

All that is required, really, is an openness to the power of the Creator and the Holy Spirit, the Angelic forces, and our Guides.  Then we allow this wonderful power of Spirit  to flow through us, the vehicle, so that this healing energy may be absorbed to heal our own  physical and spiritual condition.

This great healing power which comes from Spirit can be  transmitted to another person who requires healing, whether that person is present, or far away.

It is good practice to set aside the same time each day for meditation and prayer and reflection on spiritual matters.  This increases our ability to perform spiritual healing, and enhances our own spiritual progress.

It helps our Angel friends and Guides if we can set a specific time for our prayer and meditation, as they know we will be receptive to them at the time we have allocated. Our connection to the Heavenly forces becomes stronger with regular meditation and prayer practice.

How our ability to help others is increased by meditation and prayer: These things help us to become more focussed, give us a sense of good purpose and direction, and increase our vitality so that we have something to impart to others in need.

Simple Spiritual Healing Routine

It is a good idea, before beginning any healing, to tune up your own vital force with prayer and appropriate breathing exercise.  Here is a simple exercise for increasing Prana, or vital energy.  This routine tones up the meridians which helps to increase vital healing energy. It was formulated by a medical doctor who also used  spiritual healing and acupressure as healing forces.

Healing Exercise For Increasing Prana

  • 1) Stand facing the sun.  Put the hands on the solar plexus and breathe in deeply, imagining that you are taking in the vital energy from the sun into your solar plexus.
  • 2) Do ten long, deep breaths, inhaling through the nose, keeping the hands gently pressed into the solar plexus. Breathe out slowly each time, feeling the air as it moves through the chest, throat and nasal passages.  Count each breath in to yourself, and say OM to yourself mentally, as you breathe out.
  • 3) The Kow Tow:  After ten long inhalations, clasp the hands together and place the clasped hands over the solar plexus.
  • Breathe in a deep breath as you bend forward, performing  a Kow Tow movement.  Bend forward towards the sun until you are  looking to the ground in the full Kow Tow.  Hold for a second, then breath in as you come up to the erect position again.  Keep the hands, which remain clasped during all the Kow Tow movements, over the solar plexus.
  • Do three Kow Tow movements, breathing IN each time you bend forward, and out as you come up.
  • 4) Next, put the thumbs under the armpit, between the join of the arm and the chest.  A meridian line runs through here which is energized by this exercise. Breathe in a deep breath as you press the thumbs under the armpits.  Stand up on the toes as you breath in, and exhale as you come down on the toes again.  Do three times.
  • 5) Next, put the right thumb over the indent to the side of the right eye.  Put your left thumb at the back of the neck, just ot the left side of the base of the scull.  Hold the thumbs in these postitions for half a minute, then release.
  • 6)  Put the clasped hands back over the solar plexus and stand quietly as you breathe in three more slow breaths, exhaling slowly and fully each time.

That’s it.  You are ready for your healing session, or to go about your day.  Ideally, this exercise should be performed regularly in the morning, at noon, and in the evening.  Even if you are not performing a healing, this exercise does wonders for improving the function of all the vital organs, increasing Prana, and relaxing the mind.

Giving Spiritual Healing  To Another Person: There are many different techniques for  giving spiritual healing to  help a person. Here is just one simple method:

After doing the special breathing exercises for Increasing Prana above,  say a prayer for the person you are helping.  If the person is with you, have the person sit in a chair in front of you, relaxed and with eyes closed.

After a short prayer, put your hands gently on the shoulders.  Leave them there for a minute while you feel the healing power from Spirit coming from your hands and into the person you are helping.

Bring to mind the condition which needs help, if you know it.

I find it is especially helpful to stand at the side of a person who is seated on a chair, the recipient of the healing.  Put your right hand on the temples, stretching the thumb out to one side of the brow, and the little finger on the other side of the brow.  Put your left hand at the nape of the neck, holding it gently.

You can keep this position for a few minutes, as you concentrate on sending healing energy into the person through your hands.

When you feel that the time is right, start slowly  drawing your hands away from the person.  You can hold the hands out several inches from the brow for several more minutes, sending healing, but not touching the brow at this stage.

Regrow Tooth Enamel

How People Have Regrown Teeth:

This post is in answer to Amalhator’s comment on one of  my recent posts about how to grow new teeth, entitled Regrow Teeth.

There are some dental experts who specialize in growing new enamel on teeth.  This is done  with specially prepared natural formulas of minerals and vitamins which aid the reparation of the natural tooth enamel.

It is recommended that you see a health professional about your teeth if you wish to regrow tooth enamel. A dental expert should help you. This post is intended for information only, and so you might like to discuss these methods with your health professional before giving any of these methods  a go, of course, with your dentist’s  approval.

Tooth enamel and new hair can be regrown through diet and detoxification methods.  Whether you succeed in growing new teeth using the same method as Dr Gerson and Jacqui Davison will depend on how strictly you follow their methods,  and how long you follow their diet and detoxification methods.

If you are youngish, then your ability to regrow new tooth enamel will be stronger than if you are old with a weakened vitality.  However, it must be stressed that success  in growing new teeth naturally does  require a huge commitment:   following any type of  alternative method as  recommended  by Dr Gerson, Walter Last, Dr Anne Wigmore, Dr Eva Hill is not  easy by any means.

Cases of people who have regrown their teeth and their hair can be found, going back 50 years or so,  in some of Dr Max Gerson’s cancer patients who overcame the disease.

From written reports on his successes, and the book by Jacqui Davison who cured her own melanoma through following much of the Gerson treatment, we can deduce that these natural methods for treating cancer actually work to regrow tooth enamel and to regrow hair, as well as being effective in  curing cancer:  Many of those who recovered from cancer reported miraculous changes to the state of their teeth.

The recovery of the teeth occurred because the diet contained optimum amounts of all the necessary vitamins and minerals to cure cancer, and for the maintaining of excellent health.  These minerals and vitamins nourished the blood which fed the nerves of the teeth, and so the teeth regrew.

Those teeth which had the nerve removed, or which were ‘capped’, did not regrow, because there was no nerve left to feed the tooth. The nerve of the tooth must be intact for a tooth to regrow.

Hard Work To Grow New Tooth Enamel: These cancer patients had very specific diets which excluded cooked food, dairy,  wheat, sugar and flesh foods for very long periods.  That means NO dairy foods, NO meat, NO Wheat,  NO cooked food, but raw salads with almost every meal, and fresh organic vegetable juices on the hour every hour.  After several weeks,  two raw egg yolks a day were included in the diet to supply protein, fats and vitamins.

The diet also had specific  vitamin and mineral supplements  which aided recovery.  However, many people have recovered from cancer using  similar methods to Dr Gerson’s without the addition of nutritional supplements.

Dr Eva Hill, who worked in New Zealand about the same time as Dr Gerson worked in Americal and Mexico, cured many people of serious disease by raw food alone. Walter Last, and Dr Anne Wigmore are two other doctors who have cured people of life threatening disease by using diet and detoxification methods. These people have all written books on their successes which detail their use of diet, and detoxification.

Oatmeal Porridge: In the main, the only cooked food which was eaten at the beginning of the Gerson therapy was oatmeal porridge, which was eaten with a grated raw apple every morning.

The oatmeal porridge must have had a bearing on the recovery of the health and the hair, as oatmeal is very high in silica, which helps bone, hair and teeth to grow.  Silica, and calcium, are both necessary to combat cancer.

Iodine is another essential for treating cancer and for improving the health of the hair teeth and nails:  liquid iodine can be used for iodine intake.  Just several dabs onto the skin twice a week should be sufficient for most healthy people.

Calves’ Liver Broth for Enzymes and Iron: Walter Last used calves’ liver broth in his cancer treatments:  This supplies important nutrients and enzymes to the body, a teaspoon or two at a time, several times a day, without having to eat the meat. See my post on how to make calf liver broth. Eating the meat itself is avoided in treating cancer, as meat putrifies in the bowel, which must be avoided at all costs if you have cancer.  The idea is to keep the bowels as clean as they can be in treating cancer, and this must apply also if you are attempting to grow new teeth.

Castor Oil for Detoxification and Healing: The special diet  recommended by Dr Gerson was  used in combination with intense detoxification methods.  The integral parts of the detoxifaction process included the use of castor oil and enemas.

Castor Oil is a very powerful healer, as well as a detoxifying agent. Castor oil has the ability to draw out poisons from the body tissues.  It also helps to transfer valuable healing vitamins and minerals over all parts of the body.  I believe that castor oil was an integral part of the recovery of these cancer patients, including the regrowth of hair and newly grown tooth enamel.

Enemas are important in the Gerson therapy, and in Walter Last’s treatments. However, you really need the advice of a professional in using these along with any alternative cancer therapy.

One Case of Cured Gum Disease:  Years ago, I had one amazing success of curing a person with a gum disease which threatened the life of my friend’s teeth.  She had been tole by a dentist that each tooth must be removed, scraped, treated, and then reinserted back into her gums.  Each tooth was to be treated individually, one at a time, and these operations were going to take place over a period of about six months at a cost of around $5,000 per tooth, which, twelve years ago or so, was a large amount of money.

Basically, she could not afford to keep her teeth, and she came to me to see if I could help her.

Tooth Cavity Repaired Through Diet: Now I had seen tooth enamel regrow while my family and myself were on a totally dairy free, and wheat-free, and  sugar-free diet.  It was not a total raw foods diet, as we ate cooked vegetables and also  had meat, chicken, fish, and eggs, and rice, and other gluten free grains – but for years we did not touch dairy, wheat, or foods sweetened with white sugar.

One day, I noticed that my son, who was about 10 years old, had developed a cavity in one of his lovely front white teeth. I did not take him immediately to see the dentist, because the cavity was quite small – I resisted getting such a small cavity drilled out, as that would make the cavity even bigger, and I had a mouth full of teeth which were mainly fillings because of this kind of dentistry.

We kept on with the diet which was necessary because my son had chronic allergy to wheat, milk and sugar at that stage.  After around six months, when rechecking the mouth, I found that the cavity had simply disappeared.  The hole had completely repaired itself without us  having to  see a dentist.

This was entirely coincidental, as I had been treating eczema with diet, not holes in teeth.

I had had earlier success myself with this kind of diet in curing a breast lump. Anyway – I published a couple of little books on the subject, and so my friend came to see me about  the gum disease and the costly treatment which her dentist proposed for her.

Now not many people are really that keen to do the alternative cancer treatment seriously.  Many people, even those with cancer, will do a little of it, but not the works, which includes enemas and castor oil.

But my friend, to my surprise, did everything to the letter.  Three months later, the gum disease was totally cured and she looked about twenty years younger, full of vitality.

She went back to see the dentist to show him how healthy her teeth and gums were, and to say that she would not need this operation after all.  The dentist  told her that he must have been wrong in his diagnosis.  he said he had made a mistake, because  she couldn’t have had this gum disease after all, if she had ‘cured’ herself naturally, as she said she had. He said the disease was incurable.

But before she ‘cured’ herself, he was more than happy to go along with his undisputed diagnosis, remove all her teeth, and charge her around $50,000 to $100,000 for what he said was a necessary and urgent operation.

Natural Ways to Regrow Hair in Children

How To  Regrow Hair in Children: Basically, the condition of the hair is an indicator for the health of the whole body.  In promoting hair regrowth, we have to work on improving the whole body vitality.

1) Regrow Hair Through Diet

If your child has thin hair, or hair which has fallen because of an illness, you really should check with your doctor or naturopath or other health professional as to the cause and possible remedies.

Meanwhile, you can begin a programme of diet which will include many of the foods which help hair growth.

Oatmeal Porridge:  Make porridge every morning.  Porridge is very high in silica and other minerals which are utilized for hair and bone growth, not to mention teeth. Eating oatmeal porridge regularly really helps your skin too.  You will notice the skin becomes smooth and silky when oatmeal porridge is eaten every day.

I like to use pure oat bran, which contains most of the natural goodies in the outer part of the grain.

Add Extra Nourishment: Make your oatmeal porridge up using enough water to make it smooth and not stodgy.  Cook it gently for five minutes or so, depending on what type of oats you are using.

Serve the porridge out – we will assume that we are serving one adult-sized plate here, which you can use part of, or all of, depending on the size and age of your child: Grate one whole apple over the adult sized plate of oatmeal porridge.  Of course, you will use a smaller quantity of everything for a yound child.

Eating raw apple with the porridge helps the digestion of the grain, and provides more roughage to the bowel as well as extra potassiumPotassium in apples,  and other nutrients, will  help with hair growth. Walter Last, a famous healer, was adamant that you eat some raw food with EVERY meal, as this provides enzymes and vitamin C, etc, to help digest the cooked food. The raw apple will aid digestion so that you gain the optimum nutrient value from the food – this will benefit hair growth.

Add one good tablespoon of sesame seeds onto the porridge.

Add one tablespoon of ground sunflower seeds. Grind these up in your blender.  You can make a couple of cupfuls up to last a week or so.

Almonds: If you have some almonds, you can grind three or four of  these up in your blender with the sunflower seeds.

Linseed, or flaxseed is also excellent for the hair.

Sesame seeds alone contain high amounts of calcium and magnesium:  one handful is supposed to contain about 1200mg of calcium and magnesium, which is about as much as you would get in a glass of unadulterated milk.  They contain protein, which is needed for hair growth. They also contain omega 3 fatty acids which help hair growth, brain function, eyesight, the nervous system, and help create a sense of well being.

Sunflower seeds are also high in fatty acids, protein,  vitamin E and other goodies.

Almonds, of course, are a rich source of protein, vitamin E, magnesium and other minerals.

These foods – sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, linseed/flaxseed, and almonds are high octane foods.  They are ideal supplements for the vegeraian diet, or in helping people recover health.

Don’t make the porridge too rich by using too much of these wonderful foods at once.  The amount you use will vary according to the body weight of the child and the state of his or her appetite.

Milk, or just a knob of butter, or some ghee, with a dollop of honey or dark brown sugar, makes this porridge just delectable.  You can use dairy or soy milk if you want, but the sesame, almonds and sunflowers can substitute milk protein if milk is not tolerated.

Green Vegetables. The high calcium greens are the best for hair growth: boccoli,  brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, are all excellent.  Carrots help hair growth as well, and some should be eaten every day for good general health.

If you have access to comfrey, then using a little of this mixed in with your silverbeet or spinach or cabbage will give extra nourishment to the nerves and hair follicles.  Comfrey is very high in silica, which is why it has been called ‘knitbone’ for centuries – it was used to help heal broken bones, which gives you something of an idea as to its healing qualities.

Organic free range meats and poultry and eggs should all be sought, for the sake of the animal as well as for the health of your child. The same applies to dairy milk, if that is what you use.  Organic and freerange – it is worth paying the little bit extra to get the quality and a  kinder product.

Oily Fish such as sardines, mackerel, salmon and tuna are all rich in omega 3 fatty acids and other nutrients, including iodine, which aid the growth of healthy hair.

Egg yolk is high in nutrients which help general good health, including hair growth. Egg yolk contains lecithin which helps your liver and gall bladder to process fats so that your body can use them.  Egg yolks on their own are used in some cancer therapies, when meat is avoided.  Dr Gerson used raw egg yolk in his clinics.  Walter Last used raw egg yolk as a substitute for flesh protein in his treatments for cancer and other disease.

Banana Smoothies for Hair Health: You might try using an egg yolk in your blender to make those banana smoothies. These can be  enriched with a little sesame seeds or sunflower seeds.  You can make these smoothies up using your favourite milk, or, instead, add a few almonds instead of milk.  Fresh orange juice goes will with a dairy-free banana smoothie, although some people would dislike combining an acid fruit with a sweet one.

Pure orange juice is another food which is good for the health including hair regrowth.  It is high in riboflavin, iron, vitamin C and other nutrients.

2) Massage with Olive Oil or Castor Oil. Massaging the scalp regularly with either olive oil or castor oil really helps hair regrowth.  Leaving it on overnight is just the best thing.  But even leaving on for several hours before washing it out with soap and warm water will benefit the hair.

3) Iodine dabbed onto the scalp once or twice a week helps hair growth.  Note:  Use only a very small amount for young children.  One drop every two weeks should be enough for those under five years old.  Check with your naturopath or ayurvedic practitioner or other health professional.

4) Apple Cider Vinegar is just the best thing for helping the hair to grow.  It contains many nutrients which feed the hair follicles, and your nervous system, and the cider vinegar works to keep your scalp at a nice acidic level.  Soaps and shampoos are alkaline, and an alkaline scalp tends to make the hair fall out.

Put apple cider vinegar onto the scalp straight after you have towel dried your child’s  hair.  Massage it well into the damp hair and scalp.  Do not use your iodine treatment on the same day as you apply the cider vinegar.  Put the iodine onto the scalp 8 hours later, or on the following day after washing the hair.
